Preface

I am a book designer with seventeen years' experience, specialising in bringing stories to life across both print and digital formats. In that time I have worked on more than seven hundred titles across a wide range of genres, collaborating with clients from independent authors and small presses to politicians and celebrities.

My work covers the full publishing process: cover design, professional typesetting and interior formatting, EPUB conversion, and managing print from pre-press through to final delivery. I take great pride in my work, with a strong attention to detail and a genuine passion for creating high-quality, polished books.

I believe a book is a designed object first and a marketing surface second. The cover should belong to the story; the interior should be invisible in the best sense — a clear pane of glass through which the writing is read. Margins, leading, hyphenation, chapter openers, captions, the colophon: each is set with the same intent.

Whether the project is a single self-published novel or a long-form coffee-table volume with hundreds of plates, the working principle is the same — set it as if it will sit on a shelf for a generation.
